Today is my friend Cagey's birthday. I just figured out it was her birthday late in the day, because I pay so little attention to my Outlook. :) So here is my gift to you, Cagey. Ten things I like about you.
I put Kelli's essay last in Sleep Is for the Weak, not because she's my friend, but because it was an amazing essay, and she deserved to be the anchor for our relay race.
- Cagey is tremendously loyal. She's always been there to remind me of my strengths, and for that, I value her very much.
- She calls at unexpected times, and she never gets mad if I have to go because there are people standing in my cube.
- She's got great style.
- She's introduced me to all sorts of Indian food.
- She's a great reader, and her recommendations have greatly enhanced my library.
- She doesn't hold the little angel's Disney fetish against me.
- She's reminded me time and time again that I know my daughter best, and that I shouldn't second guess myself so much as a mother.
- She's very smart, and I like smart people.
- I didn't know what "raku" or "Canasta" meant before I met Cagey. I still don't do either one of them, but I'm glad I know what they are.
- She's happy to pile Arun and Anjali in the car and haul herself out to my neck of the woods at the drop of a hat, just because she's my friend.
