Wild Nights Are My Glory
Last night all hell broke loose in eastern Kansas City. My husband texted me from the road. There was crazy-big hail. The little angel's school flooded, and the lights went out right as my husband arrived to pick her up. I was driving east from downtown at the time, ruminating on all that pretty, pretty lightning in the dark sky.
I do love a good storm.
And even though the satellite blew out during Barack Obama's speech, I'd heard enough to know that a) he is a dynamic speaker, probably one of the best speakers we've had in some time and b) I want to hear more of the details on how he plans to implement his promises. That's one thing I miss from Hillary. Her public speaking reminds me of a librarian yelling, but she did always have a pretty specific plan for everything she promised, and she told us about it. I wish Barack would get a little more in the weeds, and maybe he will in the upcoming debates. I'm sure he'll kick John McCain's ass.
I also really liked that he said we can disagree politically without throwing each other under the bus. A return to graciousness and tact? In politics? WHAT?
So now I'm waiting to hear from two of my good friends who were at the convention to see what they thought. And I'm all eyes on Twitter, which has been crazy since last night. Are we ready for Barack Obama? Can we go from George Bush to Barack Obama in one year? Yes, my friends. There is such a thing as a tesseract.

If you're in or near Atlanta this weekend, go check out Mir and Kristen reading from Sleep Is for the Weak at the Decatur Book Festival (the largest independent book festival in the country). They speak Saturday at 11:15 at the Presbyterian Chapel Stage. Mir has offset the environmental impact of 100 books by purchasing Eco Libris stickers for this event. I will be offering Eco Libris stickers for $1 at each at the signings in Kansas City, Brooklyn, DC, San Francisco, Chicago and Omaha. More on that later!
And...I finally did some more reviews...win a copy of The Blue Elephant DVD...find out why 17% of men over 40 have never been married...
