Although my beloved is famous in six countries for his ironing skills, I really suck at laundry. I have to admit, that even though I agreed to write the review for OxiClean (thanks Parent Bloggers Network and OxiClean for the supplies), it was really my husband who did the testing.
The informational material that arrived with the OxiClean said something about preventing fading. That's great and all, but the little angel's clothes are worn to the nubbins or stained beyond belief before they have the chance to fade. Can frayed cloth fade? Anyway, we decided to focus on stain removal versus fade protection. It was a short test - about three weeks.
We also had a wild card for old OxiClean - we have a fancy-schmancy, front-loading, high-efficiency washer. I love it in so many ways. I'm never sure if it is the reason our clothes are cleaner or if it is the products we are using in it. We've quickly become aware that our old, twelve-year-old washer didn't do anything other than get stuff wet.
Anyway, the OxiClean. I've always been afraid of OxiClean, though my friends and relatives with young kids swear by it. I prefer to squirt stuff on the stains rather than try to figure out which spot in the washer to put the OxiClean. Does it go in the washer basin? In the agitator? In some little nook of which I'm not even aware? SCARY. FRIGHTENED. WOULDN'T USE IT. My beloved deciphered the complex, color coded chart on the back of the container and determined where to put the OxiClean. (Quite honestly, I still don't know. He is that good at laundry.)
The little angel has a great love of twirly dresses. She wants to wear them every single day. They were expensive. She wears them to daycare. OxiClean had itself a nice little challenge. After three weeks and five wears of the white twirly dress with pink, green and blue polka dots (the one that looked so nice and lined I was horrified to put it on her the first time) is still a white dress with pink, green and blue polka dots. You can not see the processed cheese food, the juice, the pizza sauce or any of the other highly-staining foodstuffs that have spilled on this. I have to say, I think it might be the OxiClean.
Or the front-loading washer. Hard to say. But since I don't actually know, I think I'll keep using the OxiClean - her clothes have not been this unstained since she started crawling.

I'm a big OxiClean fan. I use it mostly for white loads, but also when our lighter-colored jeans start looking dingy. Unlike chlorine bleach, it doesn't discolor anything, nor does it rot the fabric. My only complaint is that it doesn't smell very good (and my organic, blah blah detergent doesn't have much of a smell either, so it can't cover it up), but that's a minor gripe.

I also love the OxiClean. And, to satisfy all your urges, did you know they have spray-on baby OxiClean stain remover? Works like a charm. I think Target has it, but Babies & ToysRUs definitely do. In case you just MUST squirt, they have just the option for you!
